Valve patches CS:GO smoke bug after player complaints

Ninjas in Pyjamas' Dennis was among those to point out the flaws in the system, and the change comes before the IEM Katowice Major.

Valve has released a new update for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in which we get the following patch notes:

- Fixed the 'radar spotting enemies through smoke' mechanic to behave the same regardless of the game server tickrate, and to not reveal enemies on the opposite side of the smoke until the smoke effect dissipates.
- Increased size of rendering queues for OSX and Linux game clients to address crashes when playing Danger Zone.

The first of these is most notable, as this comes before the Intel Extreme Masters Katowice Major and is a result of players like Ninjas in Pyjamas' Dennis 'Dennis' Edman pointing out a bug that was being used by pro players.

A clip was shared by Dennis in which Lukas 'Gla1ve' Rossander of Astralis used the radar to watch where enemies were while hiding in the smoke, using that cover to kill then. Dennis did clarify that this isn't aimed at Gla1ve, just the fact that this could be exploited in the game.

Are you glad to see this go?
