Fortnite's Summer Skirmish series hit by connection issues

The competition had to be canceled...

If you were watching the start of the Fortnite Summer Skirmish esports series this past weekend you may have noticed some technical issues, and as reported by Dot Esports, these were so bad that the event had to be canceled after four games.

A lot of the competitors were suffering from lag during their games, which led to a lot of frustration from the players, which was probably the main reason why Epic decided not to continue the $250,000 USD duos competition after the fourth game.

The official Fortnite Twitter account revealed that they'd be looking to improve things moving forwards, saying:

"Thanks to all the participants we had out in the first week of #SummerSkirmish! We'll be using different formats each week. We're looking into improving server performance and ironing out issues as well."

If you need reminding, last week Epic revealed the Summer Skirmish series, with $8 million on the line over a series a week as part of a big competitive push (building into their commitment of $100 million for Fortnite esports), and no doubt they'll be hoping to improve as the series goes on.
