Esports content creation company ESP Gaming has announced the World Showdown of Esports (WSOE), described as "a multi-genre esports tournament series featuring fight card-style matches that showcase the best games, players and teams across the globe."

The first event as part of this will take place at the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, and to celebrate this WSOE has partnered up with Auzom to present the PUBG Pan-Continental, launching this weekend and being streamed on Twitch. This will see players from teams like Envy, OpTic, Tempo Storm, and more competing inj PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, as you might have guessed.

The press release says the WSOE is designed to focus "on the drama and spectacle of head-to-head competition between the world's best players from a variety of genres and games across mobile, PC and console" and takes its inspiration from boxing and MMA, crowning winners in several divisions. Also, this "fight card" system will hopefully present compelling matchups between top players going head-to-head, and "innovative prizing" should make things more aggressive and foster rivalries.

"ESP Gaming is bringing a new type of esports tournament to the gaming community that ensures every single match is a must-see event featuring top competitors in a drama-filled showdown," said ESP Gaming president Jeff Liboon. "The WSOE will highlight the most compelling narratives in competitive gaming driven by the very essence of what makes traditional sports so popular, the players. The WSOE will represent what gamers really love about esports with the intensity turned up to the max."

Esports journalist, host, and analyst Richard Lewis has also joined ESP Gaming as Director of Talent too, who will oversee on-air personalities for both streams and live events. As for the fight cards themselves, these will be broadcast from ESP Gaming's PokerGo Studio, which has the capacity to stream live events.

This weekend you can watch the PUBG Pan-Continental on Twitch, where 16 teams of four will compete for $100,000 USD in cash prizes. Do you like the sounds of the WSOE?
