Brøndby retain their FIFA eClub World Cup title

The Danish side triumphed over Envy in the final.

Danish football club Brøndby IF have just experienced some success in the world of virtual football, as this past weekend they retained their FIFA eClub World Cup title during this year's second edition of the tournament in Paris, which gave players the chance to earn spots for the Global Series Playoffs being held in Amsterdam between May 28 and June 3, where places will also be up for grabs for the eWorld Cup.

The Danish team faced heavy competition from Team Envy in the final, with FUT Champions Cup Manchester runner-up Eisvogel winning 4-1 against Fredberg, but his teammate Aero lost 6-0 to Fifaustun, meaning that Brøndby won the whole thing with a 7-4 score, keeping their title safe for another year.

Considering half of the semi-final players already qualified for the Global Series Playoffs, the other four tickets were given to four other players: The Royal, who plays on the same team as Manchester winner Msdosary; Aero from Team Envy; Fredberg from winning team Brøndby; and Italian player IcePrinsipe.

It wasn't the best of results for either PSG Esports and Unilad though, with neither side able to qualify for the quarter-finals after a poor first day, with Hashtag Academy also unable to capitalise on their first-place finish in Group A.

You can see Brøndby players in action once more at the Global Series Playoffs later this month, where the precious places for the eWorld Cup will be at stake, but do you think they can carry this good performance into Amsterdam?
