The first round of the F1 Esports Series has concluded, with Alfa Romeo leading both the regular season standings, and Constructer's Cup. With races set in Bahrain, Vietnam and China, the drivers have been competing for a shot at the season's $750,000 prize pool.

Currently Jarno Opmeer, the driver for Alfa Romeo is in the lead, holding a 24-point gap over second place. Opmeer finished in first place for both the Bahrain and Chinese Grand Prix, also landing a third place result at Vietnam. Obviously, the drivers have not physically travelled to these locations this year, instead they have raced remotely, with live shows being broadcast from the Gfinity Esports Arena in London.

"We're thrilled to see the Pro Series back underway and to do it safely and remotely as the world continues to navigate the global pandemic," said Julian Tan, Head of Digital Business Initiatives & Esports at Formula 1 in a press release. "The first event has shown exhilarating racing with three fantastic races giving us five different podium finishers. We're definitely in for a thrilling season with it all to play for as the F1 teams battle it out for our huge $750,000 prize pot. We can't wait to see what the rest of the championship has in store for us!"

The next line of racing takes place between the 4 and 5 of November, where the teams and drivers will look to land some more points with races set to take place in the Netherlands, Canada and Austria. Make sure to catch the action right here, at the F1 Esports website.
