Last week we reported that G2 Esports' CS:GO player and team captain Richard 'Shox' Papillon may need surgery on his wrist after a 2cm cyst was discovered on his right wrist, and now the organisation has confirmed that this is indeed the case.
G2's announcement says that Shox has had severe pains in his wrist for a while, especially at DreamHack Masters Malmö, and that the scan he's undergone has revealed that this cyst is lodged under the tendons of his right wrist. This will therefore need to be operated on, with the operation set for March 23, but we're reassured that "such surgeries are not considered to be difficult and there is little to no chance for any complications," with full dexterity meant to return within 8 weeks.
Shox has decided that he'll compete with his teammates until the surgery, which means their schedule is unchanged, although they are asking Faceit and ESL whether some matches between March 23 and April 8 can be rescheduled while Shox is wearing a splint. If that doesn't happen, G2 will explore their options, with coach Edouard 'SmithZz' Dubourdeaux available as a substitute if needs be. Shox should be returning from April 9 though, so he won't be absent for long.
