Esports apparel is nothing new, as clothing dedicated to competitive gamers has been emerging as esports has started to grow bigger, but this week there has been a social media backlash against Cranium Apparel's esports dress, which was revealed on Twitter and immediately attracted a negative response.

Many pointed out the misguided message, and the claim to support women in esports backfired when looking at the responses on Twitter. Many pointed out that women want the same kinds of apparel as men, along with others like leggings, and when one user asked if women went into designing this product, Cranium said:

"Unfortunately No. But we are now turning to the community for ideas! This will help us make more Informed Decisions in the future!"

"We Had conducted preliminary research by a bunch of female gamers and we got a pretty positive response! At least we are trying to do something different! and creating such tweets wouldn't stop us from improving! We don't give in to haters!"

Cranium has been tweeting a lot about accepting feedback following on from this product reveal, with a tweet linked to the original saying:

"Due to a lot of criticism on our most recent addition to our store for female gamers, we want to ask all of you what would you like to see in the future for our women's store! Please drop your ideas below!"

Esports clothing isn't a new thing, as H4X was revealed last year as a brand dedicated to apparel for gamers, and since then other brands like Champion have moved into the space with branded jerseys and other clothing. This dress hasn't been as well received, as you can tell, and the message is what irked people most about this product.

What do you make of the dress?
