When you think of Call of Duty esports your mind probably jumps to the biggest competitors in the Call of Duty World League (CWL) like OpTic Gaming and Evil Geniuses, but there are plenty of players at home wanting to get competitive, and now a new update post on Reddit has revealed when these players can step their game up.
League Play is set to launch by the end of this month to give competitive players a bit more of a challenge, although it's a bit different now, as it's similar to a pro schedule in the sense that League Play events are frequent but shorter in duration, like weekends or three days.
This is part of the continued commitment to World League Hub features over the next few months, and when League Play events aren't on players can still get involved via Scrims as an unranked playlist, using the same rules as the CWL. This lets players practice, and will use skill-based matchmaking that at the same time also looks to avoid long wait times and empty lobbies. As for league ladders, these will be built around groupings of 50 players to ensure intense competitions, although further details on the ranking system will be revealed later.
So far the plan is to release the World League Hub and first League Play event by the end of January, but with play-testing and feedback being a big concern, this is subject to change. Teams and Clans are also coming to World League Hub in the future as well.
