Rainbow Six esports reveals revenue-sharing system

Including 11 pilot teams.
Sam Bishop 6 6 月 2018

Ubisoft has revealed that they're starting a Revenue Share initiative for Rainbow Six: Siege esports that will be started with a Pilot Program, allowing revenue sharing with a selection of Pro League rosters on certain in-game items, the goal being to provide organisations and players with extra revenue directly from the game and create a stable ecosystem.

Ubisoft describes it as "a major step forward - a way to reward teams that contribute to the league and help it grow. For fans, revenue sharing is one of the most direct ways to show support for a specific team."

The Team Charm initiative will therefore be expanded as part of this, and the Pilot Program itself is just a starting point designed to test the system during Seasons 8 and 9 of the Pro League. 11 teams are being collaborated with, scattered throughout all four Pro League regions, and below is the list of these teams:

PENTA Sports
Vitality
Evil Geniuses
Rogue
SK Gaming
Mousesports
FaZe Clan
Team Liquid
Ninjas in Pyjamas
Immortals
FNATIC

30% of the net revenue will be distributed on selected items, but there are two types of items in the revenue. The first are Pilot Team items, as each team will receive a charm and a weapon skin with their branding, with revenue share set at 30% for these. Then there are Pro League items, as for each Pro League charm and skin sold, 30% of the net revenue will be split between the upcoming Six Invitational prize pool (9%) and equally between each of the 11 Pilot Teams (21%).

"Thirty percent of revenue sharing allows for a significant amount of extra revenue to help teams grow. For now, we will allow teams to dispatch the revenue as they see fit. The Pilot Program is a first test that will help us build a stronger model and ultimately a more mature Rainbow Six Pro League," the press release explains.
