Twitch chat can often be the place where people make toxic or offensive comments, but sometimes this borders into the dangerous, as Dot Esports has reported on a shooting threat made towards the Evo fighting game competition, due to take place later this year in Las Vegas.

The comment was brought to the public attention by Twitter user Dankadillas, who shared a post made by Twitch user quackquackhonks saying: "Mass shooting @EVO2018 see you there."

This has even caught the attention of Evo boss Joey Cuellar, who made the following comment on Twitter: "We are aware of the threat that was made against Evo 2018, and have contacted the FBI and Twitch regarding this matter. We take this very seriously, and they will be punished to the full extent of the law."

The tweet from Cuellar has since received a lot of praise in dealing with the severity of the threat, as regardless of whether it was a joke or not, it has serious implications considering the history of gun violence in the last year, especially when it comes to Las Vegas, as the Mandalay Bay Resort is the same as the one where the deadly shooting happened in October 2017.
